Mataio hails originally from sunny streets of Edmonton Alberta. After traveling through the United States, skateboarding through Florida and California he eventually found his way back to Vancouver and finally ended up in Victoria.

Mataio has been a professional tattoo artist since 2000, has owned his own shop, “Shogun tattoo” and has worked at several prominent shops in the Victoria aria.

Once a space opened up at Urge Studios, Mataio joined our family of talented tattoo artists. Mataio focuses on custom lettering, black and grey with Japanese influences and strong accurate line work. He enjoys working on vehicles, painting and cat videos.
